Tara Cheyne’s romantic Wyoming wedding

ACT minister Tara Cheyne escaped the cold of Canberra to marry this week in the stunning wilderness of Wyoming in the United States. She and her husband James McMenamin exchanged vows in the Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming.

It was a small wedding attended by eight people, including Ms Cheyne's mum.

On the way to the ceremony, Ms Cheyne stopped to pose in her wedding dress with wild bison off in the distance. The stunning bride was wearing a dress by WearyourloveXO.

"This week is full of a lot of meaningful dates for us," she said, after the wedding. "One particularly sad one is that it's 10 years since my amazing, wonderful, loving and loved Dad died."Thanks to my equally amazing Mum, the gold from my Dad's wedding ring forms the rivets in our wedding rings, holding the two sleeves of metal together.”

"We owe the beauty and craft of our three rings to the inimitable Phoebe Porter."

The couple was engaged last year at a Gretta Ray gig in Wollongong. They first met at the Civic pub in 2018. James, a consultant originally from New Zealand, for the wedding was dressed by M2M Suits by Tones.

Ms Cheyne, 38, the Labor MLA for Ginninderra, was first elected to the Assembly in 2016. She is currently the ACT's attorney-general, the human rights minister, the city and government services minister and the minister for the night-time economy. Ms Cheyne will be keeping her last name.
