Phoebe Porter X Edition at Melbourne Fashion Festival

Phoebe Porter was recently commissioned to design jewellery for the Naarm (Melbourne) launch of the Sarrita King x EDITION ‘Walking on Country’ collection at the Melbourne Fashion Festival, a collaboration between Alice Van Meurs (Edition label) and Sarrita King (Gurindji Waanyi artist).

For the runway show, Phoebe crafted jewellery for each look, inspired by the rich palette and intricate patterns of the ‘Walking on Country’ collection. The jewellery, made from gold, copper, and black aluminium, contrasts dramatically and catches light as it moves down the runway.

Some of the pieces, drawn from Phoebe’s Raw/Refined series, juxtapose native elements (metals found in their pure natural state) against refined versions of the same metals meticulously cut and shaped by hand. This work explores the relationship between nature (raw materials) and culture (ideas, techniques, and forms), highlighting the intrinsic value of both.
